Hello All,

This is my first post here and I have read a lot of useful info here! I race Awana with very relaxed rules. I purchased BSA wheels each year online and this year's seem to be of softer material. Has anyone noticed this?

I also noticed the wheel bores are more shiny than previous years. I plan to use Krytox this year and I am wondering if I should do some polishing in the bores even though they look so shiny.

Thanks
Jason

If you used the Revell wheels before they are stiffer plastic. Some BSA molds just shine up really nice. If you see nothing but a smooth mirror like texture and no scratches, nicks, or that molding groove which goes from one side of the wheel bore to another, you're probably good to go. Clean the bore out with alcohol and dish soap. Rinse them. Then apply your bore wax. Make sure you put the wheels on something with good air flow like a vent because the wax is oxygen cured. Before you apply the oil, blow out ANY lint that might be in there. Lint will kill your speed.

I noticed that this year's BSA wheels I got seemed to have a more polished inner bore, but I would still polish them. I'm new to this site but noticed the pros use Black ice bore polish http://www.derbydad4hire.com/Black-Ice-Extreme-Wheel-Bore-Polishing-Kit-POL-KW.htm. Also check your wheel bores after polishing them with either a microscope or a jeweler's loupe.

Good luck with your races.
