Just found out that the placement of my son's car on the starting pin can be marked on the front of his car. My son's car is a 3 wheel rail runner with DFW side narrowed 1/16" and tuned to 3" over 4' racing on a 42' Best Track. I am thinking there are three options.

1) Start with the DFW on the rail.
2) Start with the car centered on the pin, no wheels touching rail.
3) Start with the raised wheel on the rail.

Is there one position that will be faster for this kind of car?

all cars will very with what it likes best, rule of thumb is dfw just daylight between itself and rail....someone correct me if im wrong

also the center peg on some tracks can vary (not perfectly center) which isn't the optimal reference point

this will give some good info on staging in general

Do not have anything touching the rail. Running the car a few times will allow you to see where it performs best. Advice above is sound.

Proper placement on the rail is very simple, place it on the track and give it a quick push. Take a look at the car on the track and if you add a blade of grass to the front and back of the DFW Side you got it. Well at least that's what I do and seems to work pretty good.
