Alright, for all you guys out there who have yet to enter this class, you are missing out on some great racing fun! Last night Quaddad brought his Vega funnycar (Poncho) over to my house for some testing. That was great racing action. My Mustang would get a killer holeshot every time, but ol' Poncho's tires would hook up and he just powers past me! Lots of fun, even though I was on the losing end.
Some interesting notes, my car would run times close to his when running solo, but in traffic, I was about .010 slower. His car had pretty much the same times by itself or in traffic.

I can honestly say that looks wise its one of the best classes to watch running down the track! If you like or liked buidling modesl then its also fun and requires creativity as well figuring out the best way to mount that silly block of wood into the platsic body. I had a blast making mine and plan to make few more the coming 2014 season.....

I will say this though, not all models are the same...even if they are the same scale on the box....found this out the hard way....bought a mustang but looking at the body, its made so that its not just a hollow shell but there was a lot of plastic mounting things in the hood area that had to all get cut off to even fit the wood block, this meant some of the outer parts I had to figure a different way to attach. Most recently I bought a yellow Camaro....more circa 1980s....came home and immediately realized that it wasnt one of the two brands that I think was mentioned in past posts....and low and behold, the wheel wheels on the model where no where near position of the axel holes on the block I wanted to use....so will have to redrill holes....

My first SR, the wheel wells and the standard wheelbase setup on the block matched exactly and I assumed all the models would (althought looking back im not sure why I even assumed that LOL)

Anyway a great class that I hope more people participate in!

Maybe we can even have a second award or winner for this class for "Best in Show" based not on speed, but design, paint, detail etc....voted on by those present at the race! That might be a fun way to get some interest!

Anyone who still doubts the fun of this class clearly did not see last nights Street Rod race. With a clear aero disadvantage, Down4Derby came back from an .011 second deficit after the first race of the finals to tie TedBull and send it to sudden death overtime. With only the timer running (no software) the 2 cars tied to the thousandths that the timer displays, but the number 1 finish went to D4D. That aerovette is one fast ride, but it looks like it needs to be in traffic, running by itself gave it a little wiggle.
Great race to watch, we were all on the edge of our seats.
Congrats on busting your NPWDRL cherry Scott!

Last night was hands down the best race I have ever watched ! Great work by all the builders !

++++++ 1 Zeebs !

It is a ton of fun to watch these cars go down the track. Last night's race was well worth staying up for. I think this class will continue to grow the more people see the cars run.

I will have to agree, last night watching the SR class roll was the highlight of the night. The finale of the 2 car race-off was great! Without a doubt I will be entering this arena of racing in the new year. And no... it will not be an Aerovette. That car was fast though!

Great job to all the racers who ran last night! And a BIG congratulations to Down4Derby on his win!

Last night was the most fun ive had watching a race. It was so intense for me I couldn't even chat. When the winner was announced I just about fell over. Ted, your vette is SCARY fast! Thanx to all for a great race. D4D

That was so much fun. Best action I could have hoped for. I look forward to building more Street rods and watching the class grow larger.
