After getting a set of Basx Pro wheels and 92X axles last year and getting closer on the car building I want to make the switch from graphite to oil. I ordered these items polished for graphite. What do i need to do to make the switch, how do I clean the wheels and axles to make sure all residue is gone. Then what all do I need to do polish wise to reprep the wheels and axles to make the oil ready. I feel that the cars are close to the max they will do as i have them now, our limits is track quality at this point. I plan on placing an order tomorrow for parts I might need in preperation to make the races at the end of January.

If the wheels have been run with graphite, you need new wheels. Is it possible to save and reuse the wheels? Possibly but that's not something I would attempt to do and I have a lot of experience polishing wheels. The graphite gets embedded in the plastic and you'll just enlarge and overwork the bores doing it. Axles can be lightly re-polished and used.

Ok, so what I get is wheels are set for graphite once used for graphite, I can wash the axles with blue dawn and then just repolish with axle polish and will be good to go either oil or graphite. When prepping an axle for oil I need to spray it with this,

then give it a shake and then maybe put it in something to hold the axle until it drys over night? The 1-2 drops of oil and slid the wheel on and spin it and insert to car?

For the wheel prep I was going to buy some Dynasty rage or BASX pro wheels and then just polish them up using the DD4H regular wheel polish stuff. red rocket 2-3 times allowing a day between each application then buffing it out. For my old wheels with graphite I was goingt o just redo them the same way after washing, two oil cars with 92 axles and either of the type of wheels I listed and one graphite with 92x axles and the BASX pro wheels. I have my car cutting down, just have to get better at that part. Opinions?

I think it is best to apply the Red Rocket as described in the instructions. Meaning you apply it, wait 15 min, blow out excess with compressed air, wait another 15 min, then polish/buff with pipe cleaner. You repeat this procedure then, ideally, let it sit 1-2 days to allow the polish to 'cure' before assembly to the car.
