Test Track questions

Ok so I wanted to know everyones thoughts on this. What is the minimum length you think a test track could be? I really don't have the space to keep our scout track up at all times but want to have something good to test on. Would 20' be to short? I know the glide on the straight will not be shown the shorter I go, but where do you think that break point would be, 16', 20' 24' etc?

I think that the transition section is the most critical to determining a car is balanced and stable. The last 14' are going to tell you if you have a contender! I'd put up the maximum length you can tolerate. 28' would probably be my minimum but there are quite a few guys in this league that don't have a track at all and are very competitive.

Same question on test tables (for drift). I used a 4' for a couple of years, and I don't think it was accurate enough. I finally changed to an 8' table similar to the DD4H table at the tracks new location. Personally, I think 4 feet is too short. 8' best, but probably 6' would be adequate. BTW, the 5KIDS website has a layout for test tables that shows 4, 6, and 8foot drifts. Look it up to get the drift amounts for shorter tables. I copied it, took it to Staples who printed it out on a banner exactly the size I wanted.

I did the same thing Oparennen, but they printed the download 24" X 96" and when I got it home I found it was too small for my 24" x 8' tuning board. I had to go back and tell them to adjust their printer and use the outside lines on the graft for the print. Cost me twice but it turned out AOK the second printout.

In other words don't print the download, the picture within the download that has the 24" x 96" lines is what you want on your printout. Get it right the first time and you will save.
