A little background about me. Im a young dad of only 28 years of age. I have a 7yr old step-son and a 3 month old son. We just finished my first pinewood derby car and won 2nd in Tigers and 1st overall and took 2nd in Tigers in Districts and 8th overall in districts. This was my first car and since I've built it I have learned A LOT! Needless to say my wife says I'm obsessed, hense the name, but I still am learning and need help. Here is our Pack Rules http://storage.buckeyecouncil.org/event/docs/246/2013_hetuck_rules_back_of_flier_pdf.pdf I'm spending a lot of money on tools (from here), a newer multi speed 4200 dremel, I have a miter saw, and drill press. Basically I'm buying everything on the site so I can do whatever I need to do based on advise. My questions are this: What body design is the fastest? Or proven to work the best for speed. What angle do you bend your FDW to for rail running technique? What COG have people used for best speed results? Fenders or no fenders and what's the advantage (my son liked the speed racer car with fenders)? I'm not looking to race in national or pro's or anything like that. I just want to win the pack race and districts every year so when we show up year after year everyone tries for second place
So any tips I should adhire to or advise people want to give I'm all ears. Any secrets people have or ideas to try I'm willing to try (have 354 more days til next years race to test and tune). I know there's a lot of people with secrets, heck I even have 1 that I do, but am willing to share if people think its a good idea. Please help and thanks for the site! It's great!
