My brother works at a tool shop. I have a few tools he has made, I'm thinking about making something similar to a GB drill fixture. I'd love to get some insight as to what to add in a tool like that. With a lot of cars to do at workshops every year I need something more "production oriented." Clamp it drill it and send it to the band saw guy. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif
No I'm not trying to start a business here.

make a car body that is 7 x 1.75 fit snug into the jig so you don't need to measure wheel base. This would limit your wheel base to the dimension of the jig unless you had multiple locations for the front wheels. A production jig like this would eliminate the need to pencil mark each scout car.

Leave slots or holes so the sawdust from drilling can fall clear and not get packed in. My pocket screw jig has that feature.

You could have the jig made for an extended wheelbase car and then have gauge blocks made to offset the body forward for the shorter wheelbases so you don't have to buy so many drill bushings? I think the long GB tool used a movable pin instead?

That might have been for the rear offset now that I think about it.
