DerbyChip stopped by the other day and helped me setup my track (4 lane best track). With deep carpet and thick pad we had to come up with something so I thought I would share.

1. use the levelers on all sections except the Start and Curved section
Note: a board would float and make it unstable. (a larger board might have worked but no need since it was so stable)
2. for the Start and Curved section (which needed to be raised anyway) we used a board with bolts that stuck out 3/4 that went right down to the bottom of the pad" which made it stable as H3ll!!

Note: flip over to use! lol

I did exactly the same on a rather thick carpet in my basement. The track still creeped because of the carpet pile. I finally moved the track close to the wall of the carpet creep direction, and put 1 x 2's between the wood under portion of the track (my t rack underlayer was 3/4" plywood, like yours). Then I nailed a tight string from start to finish of the track. Prior to the wall supports, the creep was noticeable every day. Afterwards, it has been six months, and absolutely no creep. Incidentally, I also used 4 level brackets on each track section. Result: level track on the flat section, and no sided to side movement. I can send pictures if you anyone needs them.
PM me.

PS: I also use levelers on the glass test table (to set drift).
