I've been racing Pinewood Derby with my sons since my oldest was a Tiger in 2013, and between all the Pack Races, District Races, Council Races, and Mid-America races we've collected a lot of trophies and built a lot of cars.

My wife said it was okay to get the boys a shelf in their room for everything, but we quickly ran out of room this year, and I needed to move the cars. Our designs are mostly flat wedges, so the top of the cars are the most interesting to look at, so the nose down display seems the obvious choice.

I went thrifty for the car display, simple nail type picture hangers and two paperclips bent to hook into the rear axles and hold the car to the hook.

My wife is pleased, and the kids love seeing their cars!

How do you display your kid's cars and trophies?

Nice stuff! This was fun to look at. I will post pics later. Each of my 2 kids killed it at our Churches Awana GP this year and got 2 trophies each so each got a small shelf that fit their 2 trophies and the car "we" built. They are young and son is now in Cub Scouts so I hope we end up with the same problem as you did! Daughter will continue on with churches Awana GP and son will do Scouts. Hopefully each will do both with open classes and sibling classes. Last years Awana GP they just hung in the middle of the pack. But this year I found PWDO so things went a bit differently. Lol
I hope others post pics. It will be fun to see everyone else's cars and trophies and how they display them.
Thanks again for posting! Will be fun to watch!
Regards,
Jimmy

Great post!

I have yet to do anything because I can't decide what to do. Ha.

I'm not sure if I want to have their stuff separate from my own, or keep it all centrally located. I even considered buying a jewelry display case like you'd see in a retail store. I'm a little afraid to hang anything on their bedroom wall for fear that they will knock it down.

My youngest insists that his trophies are kept separate from his brother's trophies because he doesn't want anyone thinking that the older brother won them! LOL. So all of his trophies are on a dresser in his room. The older boy's trophies are lined up across the fireplace mantle. After he won the district again, he said "Dad, you're going to need to build a bigger mantle!"
So that's my job this summer! For the cars, I made a wood base and placed them inside the clear plastic display boxes for 1/25 scale models that I bought at the hobby shop. Which reminds me, I need to stop and pick up another one of those cases, I made a car for a corporate race that I need to display now!

Clever car display. I like the way the entire car is visible as opposed to having it on a stand on a high shelf. Also keeps the dust off of them hanging and under the shelf like that. I may copy you.

Yeah, my only complaint is the shadow from the shelf, I considered an LED rope light to highlight the cars, but it was ugly, and I guess the shadow is less obvious in person, and the kids don't care.

My new problem is that my middle son is crossing over to Bear, so he has 3 years of racing left, and my youngest son is about to join as a Lion, so many cars to display and I'm already running out of room....

Don't even get me started on dusting trophies ;)

I am hoping they expand the cub program to include girls. We would get a 5 years extention in pinewood derby. :)
