Can someone point me in the right direction on a tuning board build please?

Here's mine..

Mine is just a 2x4 frame with a good quality (one side sanded) 3/4" pywood on top.... sides are 1x4 pine, top cap is 1x3 pine... My surface over the graphic is a piece of plexiglass, but I would reccommend glass. Plexiglass scratches too easy... The side 1x4's stick up to the top of the plegiglass and the 1x3's hold the plexiglass into place. You can get a generic graphic at my site or you can get a cool NPWDRL graphic as a gift for racing 15 entries!

Thanks man. Is that about 8ft x 3ft?

How critical would you say the surface texture of the tuning table is? Mine is currently a piece of smooth, but unfinished, particle board shelving material. I am planning to build a new board soon, using a mirror as a base.

Also, is there any real benefit with making it longer than 4 feet long?

I don't think the texture messes up you tuning, it is just nice to have a smooth surface to listen to the wheels..... on a nice smooth surface you can hear any ticks from dirty wheels or wheels that may have a piece of plastic from machining that needs to be removed...

For league racing you can really tune better on a 6 ft. or 8 ft. table... for scouts you only need 4 ft.

1-2inches of drift per 4ft?

I am just starting to get serious about the tuning board stuff so pulled out my home made corn hole boards to use as my tuning board. My son has his pack race on Thursday and we have is steer set between 4 and 5 inches. He will be racing on a wood track with about 5/8 com.

I will probably look at doing something like that in the future especially if I can get into some builds for npwdrl. I want to try and create a car for Mid America.

I use glass as the surface (I'm assuming all those pictured are doing the same). It's also nice to have the start guide/rail like BracketRacer suggests to get a consistent read on your steer setting. Super easy to add.

I've tried to get the 5Kids tuning graphic printed at 3 different places (Staples, OfficeMax, local printshop) and the quotes are much more ($50+) than prices mentioned on this forum. I asked for plain paper, black and white. Is there something else I should specify/mention to get the price lower?
