Hey all, first time poster AND first time winner at the pack level! We had a big break between our first event and districts, and I was wondering what everyone does before their next big race. I know I shouldn't mess with a winning car too much, but should I reapply graphite or anything? Is there anything that the length of time has done to my car? I made sure to keep it in an airtight ziplock bag to avoid humidity here in Florida. Anything else?

I have a co-worker whose Scout Pack has inspection and check-in the day before the race. I told him he should keep the car in a dehumidifying box, transfer it to a zip lock bag to take to the site and pull it out right before inspection, then hope for a high humidity night! Who knows if it would make a difference!
I would recommend checking the District rules. One to make sure your car is legal, and two to make sure your car will be competitive. Our District rules are different than our Pack rules. Last year, my car was illegal and had to fix it to comply at the race. This year we had to build a new car to be competitive with the new rule set.

Also, if you do have early check in the night before, take advantage of it! If there is a problem with the car, you can fix it and try again the next day.
Ha ha! Well the field at Districts was light. The car did get faster as it went through heats as well. Our top competitor beat us at first, and when we faced them at the end, we had to beat him 2 or 3 times to confirm our place. It was super close.
This was the first time I encountered sloppy track construction though. I noticed a buckle in the center lane that the cars would definitely hit and it had to have slowed the cars down. I did everything I could to stay out of that lane.
It was a lot of fun. Rules state all 4 must touch so there really wasn’t too much I had to do to make the car run fast. The main things that I did was do a full polish on the axles and dialed in the COG. The car was perfectly aligned. I barely had to tweak it. We’ll see how it fares at Councils. I expect some fairly top notch cars there.
