Wheel Gap for Graphite Car

I’m helping my kids out there cars together this weekend, all there hard work will finally pay off in the form of a car! The past years, I’ve used the credit card measurement rule. Since then I’ve leaned that’s not necessarily true. What is a safe gap measurement I can give these cars. Is there any household item and can use to make sure I have it correct. There cars are 4 wheels touching no bent axles.

In a pinch I've used a piece cut from the box with a slot cut in it the width of the axle. Typically measures between 0.015 and 0.020"

I've also used the credit card and found that to work ok as well. I think a lot of the pros who can test on a track basically go as close as they can without binding, but I should let them speak for themselves.

I’d go .010 or less. Cut K house grooves in your axles & use a screw driver to twist them in slowly until you have the gap you want.

I ended up using cereal box cardboard for a gauge on an oil car, seems to be pretty good, happy with the results. I never dreamed of going smaller than a credit card. I’m still not sure if I’ll go that small with my kids straight axle cars. Just
Haven’t decided what to try, don’t want to go too small and slow them down.
