I am building a BASX car to enter in the Fire Series at some point. I have John's video and it is very informative. I am about to order my wheel polishing supplies and I am a bit confused. A number of items that are not in the video are available now and I am not sure what all I should buy. A little help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rick

Red rocket replaces the step 2 bore polish. Kiss axle polish can be used after the kit polish or replace it.

You will also need Jig-aloo a spray adhesive.
A spray lubricant. /images/boards/smilies/wink.gif

It isn't a must but will likely be needed when ready to make a run at the top.

Just for the wheels, these are your optimum choices. You really need all three.

I would consider these in addition to Kinser's list:

Do not use those sold at a craft store; they are different.

If you are starting from scratch, its probably easier to just buy this kit: http://www.shop.derbydad4hire.com/Zero-Friction-Wheel-Bore-Polishing-Kit-POL-KW.htm

And this kit:

They include all of the best stuff you'll need from DD4H (with the exception of the KISS axle polish). They also include the instructions you'll need.

I'm pretty sure Kinser, B Regal, etc. buy these products by the pallet. They probably weren't even aware that DD4H makes a convenient kit for us beginners that includes just enough for a few sets of wheels.

Thanks for the help guys. It appears my best bet is the wheel polishing kit along with the Red Rocket. Then discard the #2 polish in the kit. Follow John's instructions in the video and kit hope for the best.
I do have everything I need for polishing the axles, I've done several sets and I'm pretty comfortable with that process. I've been using Meguires Polish and it seems to work fairly well. I'm open for suggestions though.
I hope to have the car at the first race, if not the second for sure. Looking forward to seeing how it goes.
We did well with the scout cars but you guys are a different ball game

Thanks John, I missed that. Just saw the #2 and over looked the Red Rocket. I'll order a spare set of axles with the savings. One less thing to buy for the next car!

Don't forget the washers. I don't recall if they were mentioned in the video.

New guy question - if you have a good axle drill job on the body and the wheels migrate out to the axle heads, why do you need the washers on the body?

Just for the front drive wheel. The back of the cars wheels should look like this /--- and the front should look like this |---/ or ---|
