Wheel Polishing Question

While prepping BASX and SS wheels for the next race I noticed that some wheels shine up better than others. After washing the wheels, I polished and waxed the whole outside of the wheels. Some wheels have a wet looking shine to them. Others have a duller shine to them. I don't know if this really makes any difference, but the wet looking shine does look good.

Do different wheel molds shine up differently than others? I just used a good polishing compound followed by RR to polish and wax the wheels. Should I be doing something else to the outside of the wheels or not even bother and just worry about the wheel bores?

I've seen variations in gloss coming from the same molds. I haven't yet found that the difference in gloss has impacted speed.
I'm mainly concerned with the bores

Mister B, are you polishing the tread surface? I used to do that thinking it would help with speed, it don't, looks nice though. Just polish bores and hubs, clean tread surface with magic eraser.

I did polish the tread on a few, but mostly the inside and outside hubs, bores and then outside surface of the wheels where the lettering is and inside edge of DFW.
