Thanks for all the good info here and help, wanted to share how the fleet is progressing and hopefully doing so will motivate me to actually get one 100% track ready- I keep starting new builds and need to finish what I started.
Street Rod with a snap in ladder style body and offset weight disc to be drilled after I seal the wood, 1/64" birch for the under carriage.
2 Street Stocks- primered one was inspired by 5k, floater wheel is an old CMI off my first scout car back in '85 reduced to 2 grams, has a very low profile. The hollowed out cavity has vibration dampening foam made to go under RC car fuel tanks. The SS on the right is a rebuild with my first attempt at fenders(balsa) and has a slightly offset weight disc as well.
And finally a 5k inspired street pro I modded, those two strips of birch between the rear axle housing and CA glue around and in the cavity reduce any flex.
Most likely they'll be all show and no go but I'm having a blast anyways!

Thanks big dogs,
Close!- she's a '68
Unfortunately she's a 1/16" too long so she'll stay on the porch and race for the experience of it. Didn't realize that would be the case when I started her but it is what is. Darn rear bumper has two uprights that protrude pushing her just over length that I somehow missed when she was in raw form, I swear the devil's in the details. My conscience wont let me fudge her to length by sanding a 1/32" off the inside of each bumper. Besides, it'll be quite awhile before I concern myself with points and rankings, I'd be ecstatic just to be a mid packer chasing the heels of the big dogs as long as I'm steadily improving.

Hey Eccentric,

Cool name.

Sweet cars so far.

Not sure that these guys would freak out over sanding 1/32 off the bumper, (until you smoke em a few times) lol. That might be a ways away with this crowd though.

I bet the guys that know the rules better will chime in.

Cool attitude. Middle of the pack sounds good for me too right about now.

Best of luck with the rest of the builds.

Well, here is the most recent pic. The 4 on the left will be in the mail tomorrow, shipped from the West Coast
cool
. All classes except eliminator. The 3 on the right are a couple street stocks I'm working on and a RR car. I had a question about the street rod though, the rules say no tape for aerodynamic effects, I take that to include taping over the wheel wells with clear packing tape?

WHAAAAAT!?

7 cars with a ton of fenders?

You have been busy!

Nice stuff dog!

A couple of those look ornery enough to chase down one of QT's car and bite the tire!

No kitty cat in these photos?

The Street Rods are supposed to look like real cars. You can use tape to help hold things together (although, after building one, I can't see where anyone would actually need to use tape. Personally, I think that any appearance of tape is an effort to improve aero under the guise of "I needed it to hold the body on.")

If your model has scoops, you can't tape over them. If the grill is concave, you can't cover that. You can add side windows.

The more like a real car, the cooler.

Man I'm so jealous that I couldn't get some cars together for the race, but kids' activities and house just sucked up all my time.

I'm digging the ladder frame for the street rod.

I see the projects are moving along just fine. We are just days away from the first race of the year. I'm sure your cars will do well as they head down the track.

Thanks fellow racers!!

It's a good rule to have, the cars look so much better not all taped up like Red Green got his hands on it/images/boards/smilies/wink.gif.

Laserman, the cat was trying to get in the picture but I didn't want any cat hair near the cars. Besides, I think she is feeling neglected from all the building- my first clue was the swatting of the car with flames.

Thanks Chris, I was hoping to make this race but too many things didn't come together in time, circumstances. Next race for sure though. To all that are racing though good luck!

That's a bummer man and I feel your pain. On the bright side though, when our cars do hit the track it'll be that much sweeter.
