Just spoke to the Pack race chair asking about the track and how the cars run.. It will be totally interesting to see this.. Next year we will be more ready..Cars Weighted in the back normally wheelie down the hump.. Suggested to move weights to the middle to pull over the hump.. Man talk about nerves.. I can move them only a little once we get there.. Don't want to take and change it now could do worse..

Question Can I add more steer to ride rail harder to slow this down a bit.. We are sitting at 3-3/4 steer in 4 foot...

Wish us luck I have the ap on my phone to keep it posted as it happens... LOL This will be One Big HOOT!!!

Adding steer can slow you down if that's what you want, and it might be a good idea. It does go against conventional wisdom, but that ramp track goes against conventional wisdom. lol

To bad you didn't have some time to run on it. If you could have, I would start out running it hard and loosen it up a tiny bit at a time to get it right before it launches. Some cars may launch and still land on their lane, that could be chancy.

I'm afraid may be posting this to late. I think adding more steer would be ok with a more stable com. My fear would be if the front lifts, you come off and over the rail. Last year when we were learning I had 8" in 4' and nobody was still close (straight track). The added steer might do the trick.

I'm thinking just keep in down on the track and all will be good. So you wan to slow her down some, huh? Pull the wheels and wipe the axles clean of any prep and do the bores the same way, that will slow you down a bit.

Can't wait to hear the stories that will be told afterwards.

Well here is my update for my sons trip to District Race... We did not fly off the track, my choice to change the steering, we did not take it to 5" we left it at 3-3/4" ... We did not move the weights, WE DID clean the wheels, we did the prep like stated in the threads, We did sand down the the wheels, I used Nuvus 2 to remove the scratches from the wheel, We gave it One Hell of a Run....

I am very proud of my son for putting in so much time learning how to build his car.. My final words before we went into the room.... No matter what happens today I am very proud and I love you .. HAVE FUN!!! CHeer on those who are faster and do what you do best... Be yourself...

Some of our cars from 2010 with his newest car on top!!! Sitting on top of the bookshelf...Big Muddy Districts 2nd place trophy sits in our living room tonight...

His car did not fly off the track!!!! It did however hace a front wheel hop at the bottom for the run right before the timer... All races were close very very close.... I will have the times for his run hopefully in a couple of days.. They will email the printed sheets to us...

Talked to the dad of the first place Scout... The have extended wheel base keep wheels straight non canted & no steering adjustment, weights are mounted up middle section to front of the car....
hmmm

I would like to thank you all for all the input and advice these last couple of days trying to figure out how to take on the Hump Track... My Hat is off to everyone here from the newest racer to the most Tenured racer....

Respectfully

Thank You guys......

You should have seen my son's face when I showed him I put it on the League site.. "No Way I'm online" Ear to Ear grin made his day and then he reads comments even better yet...... LOL... I know I have no raced but once here and only here... But it is the Forum to be on, not just for PWD but for chatting it up... There is alot of knowledge in life itself on this forum and I am pleased to be here...

YOU ARE ALL CLASS ACTS in my book...

I have to say the Pack that ran the race did a really good job... The school where it was held last year in the photo.. The floor buckled and had to find a new spot last minute...

All the Trophies were the same size which was cool... They had Trophies for 1st through 5th places winners...& Best of Show....

I was bummed as they listed on the Flyer Best of Show cars would not be racing... The Best of show raced & won 4th or 5th place Trophy and Best of Show Trophy No One complained from the Scout side so it went on as is...

There will always be some bumps in the road and every Scout did their best and not one Scout got upset if they didn't win.. I saw one parent checking times and watching his son's car and asking another Leader about if he thought it did better than it did.. That was some weird issue... His son's car stayed in the middle of the pack on each race never behind or ahead always 2nd or 3rd. He didn't want to talk to much to me so I let it be....

I am interested in this Hump track as Darshans car did really well.. I am glad my inner voice remembered what GravityX told me... "Trial by Fire Sometime we make that last minute change and it kills your car" I chose to take a chance and not adjust anything...

I had allot of good advice from allot of racers... It was the amount of time and no testing time with the car that I did what I did. So it was not unnoticed or ignored... To all those that gave us the insight and shared their knowledge with us.... THANK YOU!!!
