Hi guys, I have been doing a lot of research since our council race disappointment. I have read on here people using basswood to build there car. This is not a wood I'm familiar with. Is this better than pine? Does it drill like pine? Basically the pros and cons. :)

Basswood: I first bought it as it comes in a 1/4" plank from the hobby wood stand at Hobby Lobby. I suspect that your local hobby shop would have the same. I can't speak to any characteristics vs. pine other than that it has no discernable grain and drills just fine.

Avatar: It's likely that you took your picture with the camera turned, and for whatever reason that info isn't making it to the avatar picture. Load it onto your computer and save it there, and it should put the (0,0) { <- that's zero comma zero, not an owl} in the right place. Or load to Photobucket; if it appears to lay on the wrong side, you can rotate the pic and save it, then use it for the Avatar.

Ok thanks. I live close to a hobby lobby I'll have to check it out.

If you're going to use basswood, make sure you route your weight pockets before you drill the axle slots in back or they likely won't line up the same afterward.
