I'm not a fan of trying new things, or anything really other than what John sells, but has anyone tried or heard someone who has tried the Derby Dust? I saw their compairison test on plastic cards with their graphite compared to others and I was quite impressed. I know this is the same guy that tunes and works in his graphite on a tredmill (I've learned my lesson Kinser) so I dont know how valid of a racer he is. I also know most of you use oil, so I was wondering if anyone has tried this stuff and what they think. Thanks

Mike

I do not want to be unfair to Derby Dust, but the second place car at our District race was running Dust, and it was a DDust car design, so the axle holes were drilled and weight places set up by D Dust. This poor fellow had the double help of Derby Dust on the axles, probably treadmill break in and Derby Works axle bending technique, so hard to say what was the prime suspect- but the car lost by 0.13 sec. over 4 car lengths. EVERY Race against us. Now if we had not been at the race, he could have won and have a whole year to imagine he is fast.
I will summarize some graphite stuff later, but for now- just believe me when I say Max-V and DD4H do post data on their tests and they do not lie. If Derby Dust wanted to prove he has good stuff he could send a car in. He has the ability to test and post real times on his track to compare BUT HE DOES NOT do it- he does misleading sleight of hand with tests that do not equate to fast pinewood derby times, so I would call him shady and misleading, but he is too smart to post a true comparison.

That proves that that last product is messier than the others. Congrats.

I don't get it.

I think I have some that I bought last year b4 I found this site I can send you. I can tell there's some bad blood here. When I asked him why he didn't compare his to John's he kind of went off like he was pissed I asked.

I don't think it's bad blood as much as a lot of guys that have been at this for a while were victims to gimmick marketing at one time. I know I have been. Spreading a bunch of graphite on cards and rubbing it on doesn't seem to show any relevancy. IMO. I guess if I'm spreading graphite on a bunch of plastic cards sometime his stuff would do the trick but I really don't see myself needing to do that. Put the stuff on a car and run it down the track, pick it up and show me some graphite with the time the car ran, that'll tell me what I want to know. /images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

He is at the front of a long line of guys that flap the trap but never show up to back it up. Selling junk using gimmicks and false information. If you see Derby Worx on the site then you know right off that they are just there to make a buck off of you.

That's what I like about this site. Ppl are honest and truthful. This is his response when I asked him why he didn't compare his graphite to John's

"No. #1. John Halliburton is a simple jerk bully. I can give you a list of vendors and manufacturers that will verify this.

Because there is no true process that can test it on Pwd cars. Once a lube is applied there is no real way to remove it through any known process. Can you tell me how to do it?

I would send it to a certified scientific company such as southwest research institute. They would be the only one

Treadmill process is the key to graphite process. You have to build layers of lube. Can do that with a pure graphite. Can't do the same with a moly additive graphite."

What's going to happen when I get this stuff and me and my kid are working on our car at the table? I don't even know how to use it as good as he does. If I do that it'll be a huge mess. In my mind that's really blowing it! All pun intended. lol /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif

From what I have read on the Derby Dust site, sometime ago, his "graphite" may contain tungsten disulfide. From anything that I have ever read on TUNGSTEN DISULFIDE, it does NOT stack more than one layer deep. So for him to say "You have to build layers of lube" is pure gibberish.

LOL! That was hilarious!

So then his grapite is the best thing around to mark your playing cards?

I'm sorry. What were we talking about again?

A treadmill seems like the equivalent of taking your Indie car for a Baja run in order to get it in shape for the big race.

Here's what I don't get and someone please explain this theory. So on derby dusts website, the derby dust claims this: We have even reached average speeds of 12.43 fps with Derby Worx UltraLite wheels. (Results on a 30.75ft pin to eye Best Track with Timestopper timer utilizing 4x timing eyes). Now I'm no match major, but 12.43 fps on a 30.75 ft track is 2.47 sec runs. He also boasts 15+ fps runs with this stuff which is 2.03 sec runs. Now the first statement is nothing because using John's stuff I was running 2.2. But I'm not sure how your average 12.43fps but have 15+ fps runs. Doesn't sound consistant as he states this stuff is good for 30+ runs.

He is not consistent. This industry is like anything else. When people get burned by guys like this then they assume all vendors are like this. I have to deal with apprehensive customers all the time because of the trash out there. They think I am just like the rest. That is why I became hated along with the Jewkes because we expose(d) them for what they are and called them out and so we are bullies. I am not a bully. I am like the little tiny kid that the gang of wanna be cool guys tried to pick on and kick down but ended up all broken in the hospital after finding out the kid was Bruce Lee.
bruce
The bullies got bullied and now cry about it. The fact is this and it holds true today, the Jewkes changed the pinewood derby world by introducing The Block. I followed it by teaching how to use oil. There have been no other major breakthroughs since and those 2 things gave everybody racing almost a tenth of speed. Not one person here or anywhere would be in the neighborhood without those 2 things. I will still to this day be glad to go head to head in a live build off using my products vs anyone else and their own. I have been center stage putting my business on the line. Can you say that about Derby Dust or any of the other Dery Worx vendors? OK you have Spacewalker, but he loses all respect when he tells people to use Derby Worx but does not use it himself. He is the perfect example, that crap is nothing more than a way to make a $.

If I am a bully for telling people the truth then I guess I am a bully. I am a bully saving people money or I would be if you goobs would listen. LOL most of you have to learn on your own anyway too!
