DFW and migration

So couple questions on the dfw -

First I was reading that the dfw will run against the boby of the car and the rail will not push it out - can someone confirm.

If that is accurate - is there a trick to getting the dfw to run centered on axle groves? I notice on my last car the dfw appeared to migrate inwards and potentially not centered on the groves. Do you run a small gap and give the wheel no where else to run but on the groves or use a groove-less axle?

Sounds to me like a fight, at the DFW, between steer and the natural tendency of the car wanting to go "straight". Steer wins.

If you don't believe me. Perform your own test, put a nick on the inside of a DFW hub of a junk wheel and run it. Not that anylne said they didn't believe me but you can confirm this.

This will produce a clicking noise, validating the information.

I believe you -and that is consistent with what I was noticing on my slow roll tests. Also, on my last car I was in a hurry and didn't add slide guides to the front wheel - and you could see the mark the hub had made against the body of the car.....lets just say slide guides have been added this time around....

Just wondered, since I lived there for 12+ years.

Use the teflon washers you can get from dd4h's store.... they are a pain to get the glue to stick to them but with practice you can glue them on effectively .... i use gorilla super glue rough up the back side of the washer with some sandpaper.... small bit of glue stick it to the body.... once glue sets a little run a bead all around the outer edge..... dont forget to use a bit and just your fingers to turn it and clean the hole back out b4 trying to insert an axle.

Instead of trying to glue the washers to the side of the car I machine my washers from teflon rod stock so they are a press fit on the axel, then when you install the axel with the washer pressed on it, it will stay right against the side of the car - no need to glue it there.

Yea that works too ...I just glue mine for my since of security that they wont spin but you're right ..You dont have to as long as they are tight on the axle
