I've been using a teflon washer on the DFW axle. The problem I'm having is either they are to tight and disform when I try to enlarge the hole to fit the axle better. Is there a better method to use to provide the spacing for the DFW. Also, should the spacer/washer be tight or loose on the axle?

Exactly John... I think on the rears Teflon works great and it is easy. The wheels don't ride on it and for the occassional tap during a wiggle it serves its purpose. But with the DFW it just seems too soft to me so I often use Delrin. My Street Pro from Nationals had black Delrin glued into the body, dfw and rears. That being said I really haven't haven't seen a difference in speed, it just seems right. Delrin also comes mixed with Teflon if you still want to use Teflon.

John, and Scott, that sure sounds like it is worth a try. Who is the best source to get some Delrin?

aircooled,

If you give me the sizes you want, I can spin you up a few on the lathe.

Roger,

Just trying to help someone out. I am not interested in making spacers to sell.

Look at the Coefficient of Friction of the different materials. Acetal PTFE-filled Delrin acetal resin may be a good choice.
