I drilled a few bodies with a 43 drill bit and ran 93 axles. I found the axle holes to be really tight so I used a spare 93 axle (one that I ruined) and inserted several times to loosen up a bit. It was still real tight but I was able to get them inserted. Is anyone using a larger drill bit to open up the holws? Maybe this is where tuning grooves would have come in handy!

Thanks-I'm going to take my calipers to the bit I used, maybe it was smaller than I thought

If youre using a jig I think most are designed for a 43 drill bit. I do the same as you- I take an old axle and open the hole a little. Also, I find some species of wood are easier to work with than others

I use a jig which is def designed for a 43 drill bit and it seemed like a good fit. Maybe I was just trying to get done too quick. Maybe my bits are also a hair undersized. I will check them just in case.

I have 5 size 43 drill bits and 4 were .088 and one was .089. I had one of the smaller bits in my pin vise. I switched it out for the .089, loosened it again and it goes in perfectly. Now I need to get a better source for drill bits and have something else to measure. My hardware store is going to love me taking calipers to their draw of drill bits.
