I am so MAD! I have been working on a car for several days. I have sanded and sanded to make the car perfect. It's the nicest I have ever done. I used Birch plywood to hide my weight pockets, I sanded and smoothed it perfect. I just sprayed my first coat on it and dropped it! Broke the plywood loose, took small chunks out of two corners, and messed up the top. I know it has happened to all of us, but I am sick!

Just had to vent! My pity party is over.

my son did all his painting this year. We're getting better at painting and finshing (we've always concentrated on the clock.) My girls used a glitter paint on theirs for the family race. I had to get some clear coat to put on theirs so the glitter would fall off. I thought (when I hear some one say "I thought" I start to cringe) his car would look nice if I hit it with the clear coat. Well his paint hadn't cured yet and it curled like I hit it with zip strip. The race was in three days. I took a knife and cleaned it off and got down to good. Luckily he was home sick that day. he was mad. we had it repainted, with taped stripes by that night. It looked just a good or better. Good luck with yours. May the Force be with you./images/boards/smilies/smile.gif

Bummer....if it's not totally destroyed you might be able to save it with some Bondo, the stuff works great for little nicks and divots.

I don't think I have made a car yet I didn't drop at least once. I remember 1 year when my boys were in Cubs I was trying to drill some tungsten in my youngest son's car (I knew better) it broke in haft the race was the next nite glued it carefully back together & he got 1st place with it.

dropping your own car is heartbreaking but when the staggers at our district race this morning damaged my grandson's car after the first heat , which we won with a good time, it is really hard for 8 year olds to cope. I was really disappointed with the aluminum track because I don't think they had it bolted together. Every joint was a big bump. The wheels were well preped going in and coming out one rear would not stop wobbling. We will regroup

Sorry to hear that. That is a bummer.

If a car is dropped ask to inspect it. If a visible bent axle is found ask to repair it. Remember that one of your front wheels and axles will be perfect for the change. That's why it is wise to always fully prep all four wheels and axles.

I think that might be a gray area. I haven't ever prepped my NDFW. At a cub scout race I'll bring a couple of extras though.

Rising from the depths of ruin, the car is saved! Okay, that was lame.

I fixed it with some body filler, ca glue, sanding and re-shaping! Re-applied the primer and sanded all imperfections out but one small imperfection at the back of the car. Looked pretty decent before paint.

It has it's first coat of high gloss green and now I need to name it. I think I will name it Oscar since it is green and saved from the garbage!

I always liked Sesame Street!
