Hi, I saw this method for rounding wheel bores on another forum and was wondering if this is a good method to use or not. I know the people on this board are the best in the country, so I figure you guys would know if this is worth doing.

Thanks in advance

"Find the closest pin gage that will not fit in the bore of your wheels > You need a slightly larger pin gage than the bore diameter.

Put your wheels in hot water. "Hot" means what your hot water heater delivers to your faucet.

Put the pin gage in a pin vise. Put the pin vise and pin gage in ice water.

Pull pin vise/pin gage out of ice water and apply Novus #2. Quickly put pin into wheel which was just pulled out of hot water.

Let bore collapse onto pin gage. Turn pin gage in wheel bore for about 10 to 20 seconds.

Remove pin gage while you are still turning pin vise/gage.

Wash out Novus #2 and blow out with air. Next > Use Q-tip with Novus #2. You know the rest of the story.

You will find speed..... "

The method sounds interesting. I've tried many methods to treat the stock bores including the standard cardboard stick. I've even tried the pin gauge without the cold and hot changes. The metal was pretty brutal to the bore, but my method could have been brutal. As bad as some of the stock bores look, sometimes the less you do to them the better. Polish is safe. The cardboard stick is safe at low low low speed.

BSA wheel bores are tapered, this is so the wheels can remove it from the mold. A process like this doesn't remove any material it just polishes the part wheel bore where the pin hits. All of the racers suggesting this method also use another wheel bore polishing method after it.... usually the q-tip stem/polish method. I have tried this method and I know that the q-tip stem/polish method works just as well which would lead me to believe that it doesn't do anything with regards to speed.

5kid's is right sometimes we do to much!!
KISS keep it simple stupid, I have more success following this, then the wheels that I spend hours on.

I would recommend that too. People are going overboard with polishing and are not finding speed and blaming it on the parts. Keep it very simple. Oh yeah, I am sure QT wasn't calling you stupid! He was referring to himself.
