I've noticed lots of cars where the DFW is cut in. I'm guessing so the trailing wheel never touches the rail.
My question is how deep should the cut in be for the DFW? Would having too much of a notch give a car the death wobble?

I think I may be able to help you answer your question. You need to take into consideration the amount of bend in your dfa into account but 1/16th would be a safe bet. If you go much further you force the other side of the car closer to the rail which is defeating the purpose.

The excerpt, from the mentioned link, in reference to your question:
  • "Narrow the front dominant side of your car about 1/16". The biggest issue with scouts cars is that they drag the rear wheels the entire way down the track."
