NPWDRL Member Locator

I cleared this idea with John and he thought it was a good idea.

Here's an idea to help locate fellow NPWDRL members. Follow this link or image below to view it. It is a self editing map for members only to add location or whatever else they want to add. Map is not public and will only be available to forum members that have the link.

Instructions:
Sign into your Google Account
Click the RED box labeled "Edit"
Click the blue marker on the map labeled "Add a Placemark" this will appear after clicking the EDIT button.
Navigate to your city on the map, and drop the marker there.
Put your username as the title, and some kind of contact information in the description (email, phone, shipping zip works well) as little or as much information as you want, you decide.

This is a cool idea. It took me about 2 months of talking on this forum before I found someone in my area to work with. Now it will take 30 sec. Great idea Gravity! Done!!

Information that can be added to the locator could be if you own a track and don't mind allowing helping others tune. Again, this is all up to you, as much or as little information as you'd like. With 800+ members the map should have blue markers all over it.

Thanks for participating. If you make a mistake on the map and want to have it removed just let me know and I can remove it for you.

OK a little bit of information on what to do, some of you are editing the wrong area. Here are some pictures...

After clicking the EDIT button a screen like this will show up (see below). Drag your placemarker to your location, a balloon will then show up, input your information into balloon. Then follow directions below.

I confess to being at least one person who did not know what the heck I was doing. Sorry.

I tried following the new instructions and it still would not work for me. The marker would run away from my mouse pointer and head north and not stop,

. At some point I got a box that told me to click on the map to place it and I would click and of course nothing,

. It was like the map was pranking me.

I finally figured out I could right click and add the placemark which gave me the box to add my information. Finally I was successful,

I do computer support all day long and figuring this out was like being back at work. Supposed to be easy but just like at work sometimes things just don't work like advertised.

Probably that crappy Internet Explorer I still use causing problems. I know I should switch to Chrome or something else but since we use it exclusively for work I stick with it so I stay familiar with its challenges.

What would the chances be of putting a locator tab or some sort of short cut button for this cool little map???
