New Items Performance Tracking Software

Randy, I pasted the whole message into an email and sent it to [email protected]

I’ll put a fix in place to prevent this issue but what you can do is go into the Hardware Settings screen and make sure to set at least one lane as “in use”.

I just posted a fix. The next time you run the software, it will let you know that there is an update, assuming you have an Internet connection.

For those giving the software a test run, I do recommend that you do the following:

Go into the Hardware Settings screen
Select any timer
Set the number of lanes to 4
Set the "Lane Sensor Mode" to Multiple
Check all 4 lanes as "In Use"
Then you will be able to see the data in the sample file that simulates having multiple sensors in a lane. When looking at the graph, you can select which sensor position to plot the data for.

That was my problem. I had checked off six lanes in use in the Hardware Settings screen. When I unchecked five and six now I don't get the error message and the data displays in the graph.
Thanks Randy!

Randy;
We've talked in the past about this type of software and I'm very glad to see it come to fruition. This list of functions you've presented is very good, but I personally would like to see an addition that would compare my track times to the league's times. Presently I make four runs, average these runs then compare this average with the average I run on race day. This gives me an estimate of the times I would expect to see when I go to the race. I hope I've worded this correctly and you might have already included this capability in this new software and I just missed it. If so please disregard this comment. I'll be purchasing this software as soon as it's available. BTW welcome aboard.

+1
That's a great suggestion. I think that would be very useful.

I believe that option is already there? Click on "Software Settings", Click on "Run Data", check the box for "Apply Time Correction Factor" and enter your number. At least I think that's what that's for!

I have posted an update that adds in some usability improvements. It also fixes the problem that bracketracer reported. If you already have the software installed, when you go to run the software, it will let you know there is an update, assuming that you have an Internet connection.

Do you have an estimated cost for this software yet? Just curious. Thanks!
Pricing has not yet been finalized.

You can enter your data from your test track and any actual race data. Just put those datasets into different sessions within the software and you will be able to compare them. The software does have a time correction factor that you can set (Software Settings screen) to adjust your times to better match the times that you get on the league track.

This is going to be pretty cool !

There is no limit to the PWD appetite in this group.

I think that the option to show wt per wheel vs. for the whole car should pop up from the beginning instead of the XYZ COM. I have hears of a few league folks that design their cars with CAD software, but I haven't seen any talking COM in three axis.

This going to be a great tool! Really interested in what the price tag will be.
I've got a number in mind, but seeing as there is no competing software to serve as a benchmark, it makes it harder to determine a good price. Part of the decision is the amount work that went into it compared to the expected sales and what the market will bear. While there are far more racers out there than race events, I don't think that DDT will approach anywhere near GPRM sales. It takes a special breed to make the extra effort to go beyond the typical racer's preparation for a race. So, I am not expecting a big market.

What would do you guys feel is reasonable?

Thanks,

Randy

I don't know that I really expected to a response on that question.

I have decided to price it at $40. That seems reasonable to me based on the amount of work that went into it and the expected market.

That's about the same as a set of wheels. Very reasonable in my opinion.

The next question is what will a person need to support the software

Are you asking what are the minimum computer requirements to be able to run the software?

Otherwise, I'd say you need a race car, a computer, a track, a compatible timer and cable, and a good pair of walking shoes......./images/boards/smilies/wink.gif
