How do you guys fasten the tungsten cubes that allow you to use them for your next build? I have 2 scouts and this is the third set of cars we are building this year and I'd like to be able to reuse.

+1 for 2 sided tape. The tape used in window insulation kits is perfect. Super thin, strong but releases cubes with a twist.

Thanks guy! I've considered using 2 sided tape similar to what I've used on RC cars (also called servo tape) but thought the thickness would be an issue. Happy to hear others have had success using much thinner tape.
Just be careful with a hot iron. Extreme heat can cause warps in wood. Plus that’s right at the rear axle holes.
Good point! Chances are though we wont be using that car again. District race was really rough and I'm concerned it tweaked the fragile wood. Headed to nationals and will build freshies.
Really can’t go wrong with the 2 sided tape. I race both Awana and also league at APR but I’m on the cheap right now and dont have the funds to buy a bunch of weight so the 2 sided tape allows me to transfer the cubes back and forth to different cars very easily. Plus the tape is easy enough to pull off and redo if it looses its stickiness after a while. And the wood remains bare with no extra weight. Plus I’ve never had a cube come loose.

for my weights, I use Duck double sided carpet tape in the weight pockets (https://www.duckbrand.com/products/paint-diy-tapes/carpet-tapes/white-188-in-x-75-ft) and 3M 3350 silver tape on the outside...

I just use some 100% silicon I have laying around then Silver tape over the back half of the bottom of the car. The silicon lets you just pop the cubs out easy and no tope to deal with.
For they guys using the 3M VHB tape, can you share a part number? There are so many to choose from! Who knew?
I will have to get back on this. I snagged some at my business and am on vacation and don't know the number of the tape (think it is 4032). I am trying to find out or get a recommendation from the 3M tech folks. I didn't realize there were so many also. Will be back as soon as I can but might be a week and half. Sorry for the delay.
Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted on this. I since received a couple of 3M VHB tape samples. One was #4926 and another #4936. Also used a primer stick #94. The weight bay must be painted for the tape to stick best. 3M says VHB not designed to adhere to raw wood. So I used the #94 primer stick (it dies quickly) on top of my paint in the bay and then tested the two samples my jobber sent (his recommendations) While they both worked, I think I liked the #4936 best. Seems like you could paint the bay, primer with the 3M #94 stick and then use the tape, add weights and then your silver tape over the weights. Not saying there might not be another #VHB that works better but I tested these and it seems like it will work for racing and then you can reclaim the weights when finished with the car. My VHB samples were 1" wide, so I cut to fit. I think they even have different widths. Sorry you might have to order a lifetime supply at once?
