What role could shock absorption play in PWD? I'm not really even sure of all of the theory of shock absorbers in cars and trucks, other than making the ride smoother for the passengers.

Let's assume the track is the worst 20 year old wooden track you've ever seen; a track with a raised 1/16" seam where every track segment meets each other. As the car hits each of these seams, is the car transferring some of its potential energy into the track, which then transfers this energy to the floor the track is sitting on? I assume yes.

Obviously, the scale of these cars is too small to allow any kind of shock absorbers mounted to the wheels or axles, and maybe the rules wouldn't allow it even if such a mechanical device existed. But, maybe you could somehow absorb shocks to the weight section of the car. Maybe weights suspended with springs?
