Ok, I'll put this here since I am sure there are many opinions. How many of you guys have a test track? What test track do you guys use? What minimum length is needed for useful data? Do you need a timing system? What timing system?

What track, length, timer, starting gate, etc do you guys use for the league? I would imagine you all use the same track setup at each event? What is the downward slope degree?
Get a best track ... best customer service and very competitive prices.. I spend a lot of time when I first got in PWD investigating this. Team it up with a micro wizard timer..again very good customer service. I started with best track 20' with half hill.. But I going to save you the heartache. To be competitive bite the bullet and get a full hill track and if room allows go for the 42 footer. You do this and you will become competitive quickly.. Couple this with a good tuning table. Very few people has done well without a track.. it is possible. Hope this helps.
I never saw that published anywhere, but if you have a track, its pretty clear that the slope angle is is not set in stone. Its all variable by where the support legs are attached both in the curve and the start section. This is why its difficult to determine if the times you run at a scout event are comparable to the league races. I set mine to 27.1 because that is what was used at PDDR and East Coast Derby. I'm sure John still uses the same slope angle at NPWDRL.
Just what Zeeb said.. Your 27.1 degrees is not measured at the curve but the steepness of the starting slope. Adjust the support legs up or down the track to achieve this.
Wow, I assumed many had a track, but the number and almost unanimous Best Track is somewhat suprising. I have many toys as part of my hobbies, just none 42 feet long!
