After buying 8oz of tungsten for my last two cars and not being able to reuse it I am going to try the method alot of you guys use. I picked up some foil tape but I am a little nervous that its enough to hold the weight itself. Do any of you guys use a little CA glue or some double sided adhesive or something to help hold the cubes to the body before covering with the tape?

I sometimes do that, not always. The tape really works Xtremely well but when i do glue the weight, and I am building a new car and I need to reuse the weight I just soak them in denatured alcohol or goo gone or something

Ted:

Not sure who posted the thread I read but it stated the following...

The racer had used scotch tape to the weights and then glued the weights to the car and when they wanted to re use the weights the just cut the scotch tape and out come the weights...

I have heard time after time the foil tape is strong and many have not had issues with it ...

You can also build a hatch with two small set screws out of 1/64 ply. Glue the weights in with a drop of ca. You can buy ca release agent to remove the weights or adjust.

I use double sided carpet tape from Lowe's. It holds the tungsten cubes in place. Along with the foil tape over the top, nothing will fall out. In fact, when you want to re-use the cubes, you have to use a bit of force to get it out. Works like magic.

It's funny how some of my golf club building supplies work for PWD.
Grip tape for holding cubes in and powdered tungsten for fine tuning the weight.
Now if I can just figure how to make my golf shaft frequency meter work for something that spins,I could measure the rpm of a spinning wheel.

And thanks to OPA, I now also wrap it up the sides where the inner hub can come in contact with the body; it's slicker than teflon or nail polish.

Monocots is the way to go. Very light, tough, shrinks to drum tight, and slick.
