Tuning

I got my Best Track last week. I want to use it to tune my cars for the June 20th race.

Hypothetically, lets say that my best car times occur on my track when the single car is set at 4 inches over 4 feet from the tuning board. There is no wiggle, but on the edge. Normally, of course, this is where I would set it up. Also suppose that at 3" there IS a slight wiggle. Should I set the car to 5 inches over 4 feet, because of the "dirty air" from other cars that will happen during a live race? Wouldn't this help to stabilize the car in traffic?

Also I would suggest always tuning with traffic if possible. I have a four lane and I always use 2 test cars to run outside of them this way your pretty set up for the dirty air effect. I tend to save old decent cars for this purpose after I retire them.

Hey chump- I have a 2 lane, but I like the idea of you coming over and running your cars.

This is how the world famous Zeebzob Speedshop was born.

I'd say that 5" would be a little drastic if the car is stable at 4". I'd set the steer to where the car is fastest and still stable. Then add a 1/4" - 1/2" of steer at most.
Once you run a couple races, you will get a feel for where the car needs to be in traffic.
Great tip Brian! Now... just a few more like that and I'll catch you! /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif Read my signature.

And the Krytox oil that comes out of that Loctite bottle better... more accuracy when oiling your axles/wheels.
