Understanding that the canted axle/wheel combo leaves minimal wheel contact with the surface of the track. What type of wheel surface finish am I looking for? A nice polished mirror-like finish or something different? Would this mimic what the graphite users did when they coated the outside surface of the wheel?

GravityX,
My experience has been when I polish the rear wheel surface to a mirror finish, the car slows down. I guessing the wheels maybe sliding around some.....in the transition. I seem to have the best times if I take some worn out 2000 sandpaper and lightly just clean the surface up.

Thanks for the input so far. Could I then make the assumption that polishing the front wheel to a mirror-like finish would then have a desired affect, due to the DFW steer?

You need that sharp edge on the rears to bite the track. If you polish that edge you compromise the very sharp edge. If you add polish, wax or graphite to the wheel tread you rear will slide around.
