Greetings to all. New member here.

With this year's derby's over the project now is to build a test track. I have the timer hardware and software, and found some materials that should work out. But there are some specs that I need. I was hoping that someone might have them.

I have read to use a 30 degree angle down - though in pictures it is looks to be 60 - like the slope is an equilateral triangle. What would be the degrees between the angle coming straight up from the ground to the running surface of the track?

My biggest question is how sharp the radius is for the bend that transitions from the down angle to the flat. To sharp an angle and the car would bottom out. Not sharp enough and I won't get that "kick" when the cars level out.

Much thanks to anyone with the numbers.

Thanks

Wayne of Wayne's This and That posted info on building his own track.

As to track specs, the NPWDRL track is a Best Track. The start slope is set at 27.1° (just happened to be where it was set). The transition, AFAIK, is a 4' radius curve.

For your build, the greatest concern really is what your car does in the flat. Although the way it handles the transition is a consideration, that is something that doesn't really matter as much as long as your CoM is 1/2" or more.

Okay I am new to this also but this is the specs for the best track. they are aluminum tracks. it's what most of the league's use and what lots of the scouts are going to. I hope this help.
