Fear not gents!

All are welcome to step into the illustrious Home of the Pinewood Illuminati.

However... certain members of the Derby Community will likely never be allowed into the hallowed ranks of Team FNG.... and even fewer will be allowed to view the light that the Pinewood Illuminati enjoy.

Troy... it might be a while for you... but on a long enough of a timeline... it could posssibly happen.
Like i give a rats ass

I made my photos of the idea public on forums (as I often do) and Scott likes to keep his innovations to himself... So I released my idea to the world and Scott may have been working on something similar, or he may have seen what I was doing and copied it. It really doesn’t matter which... because there was no way I knew what he was doing and so the law give me one year to file for a provisional patent. I filed and waited almost the maximum time of another year to file for the actual patent. This was all documented and made public on an ad with a vendor. Almost 3 years after coming up with the original prototypes I was granted the patent. (Relatively quick for a patent, this was my third). Then it really started to hit the fan... and not with Scott... but with a guy that literally owns the PWD tungsten market.
I for sure did NOT copy the idea from YOU or anyone else! In fact you DID copy the idea from me!

That's a pretty bold statement. So you actually believe that in the history of Pinewood Derby, you were the first person to think of putting any kind of weight in ,on, or around the wheel areas of the car?

My guess is shortly after introducing the cavity style wheel in the mid 70's, there were numerous Scout dads throughout the country stacking washers in that area of the car. I'm certain with enough effort one could find photo or written evidence of such.

Ahhh. I remember when I used to fight Goatboy's battles for him. No wonder people don't like me.

I know! It is crazy to think we came up with any of this stuff. To make it even more nuts, they are handing out patents to anyone these days.

I'm certain you could have attained a patent for your oil process, as it's highly unlikely anyone else had thought of using the same process and materials. Attaching a washer to the side of the car, that's an obvious leap, one which I'm certain was accomplished many decades ago.

Do we also really believe that a lifted wheel and rail running are ideas that have only been around for the last 10 or so years? Prior to that no Scout dad anywhere in the world ever noticed that when one of his front wheels was off the track his car was faster ? Or, even if by mistake, notice that when his car rode along the rail it went straight and was faster than the cars that bounced all over the track?

You might want to go read the rules to get a U.S. patent. Saying something was accomplished many decades ago is not helping your buddies case any.

You might want to not assume I haven't applied for patents of my own, and know the process.;)

You don't and can't patent an idea....you patent the utility or design of an idea or process, which is what Joe did. I've not asked him, but I'm not certain Joe ever claimed to be the very first person to ever think about putting weights in the wheel area.

Alpo.....keep quiet and speak only when spoken to. Now put your dunce cap back on and report to the corner.--------->

You are correct sir and I am not disputing that Joe is the legal holder of the patent. He filed the papers and paid the money and no one disputed it so it is all his. I know companies do it to other companies all the time. I don’t like it and I think it is dirty but that is just my opinion.

I agree....I hate patents. In large scale they have become tools wealthy people and corporations use to steal and manipulate ideas and IP. Trademarks are very much the same. There's no real money in this sport, so the IP trolls don't bother with it.

WOW!! Did we actually agree on something?

Ummm. You could answer the question or I can answer it for you.

I @Ember have never raced in a league and I have nothing to offer to this hobby.
