For what, eight bucks you can buy yourself four extra tubes of wheels and axles. Select the best out of those and run with 'em. As good as professionally made? Hell no. But more consistent than just shaking the parts out of the box.

Doesn't seem like an unreasonable way to race, especially if your opponent is doing the same.

And with the Fire Sale you can get a set of BASX for and entire $1 more. $9 bucks and change. So, buy a bunch of wheels that won't be used or a set that can be reused and will actually roll straight. VK its a no brainer.

Bottom line here is you either are afraid to race, just don't want to race, or something else I do not know what. You post on threads in an attempt to show your knowledge. When do we get to see those bent rear axles put into play in the BASX race? Does it need to come down to me buying you wheels and axles to allow you a chance to race? PM me your address and I will fed ex axles to you. Have DD4H send you a set of wheels and you can put your car where your mouth is. Beat me fair and square I will graciously congratulate you. This is simply a way for me and all those I speak for to see if you are willing to roll down the hill with the big boys. I know its a big step and probably bigger for you since you have been running your mouth for so long that if you don't perform what a shame. If you do perform then you suddenly gain mad respect. Its up to you. I see a poll has started on this so you make the call.

I knew you were going to put this on me. That's okay. I kind of see a pattern in your 'logic'.

Here's the situation: I have, at present, one car that was built to certain specs, because of my current pinewood goals. That one car is the only car I have time for right now. If I start on another car this month, it will not be healthy for my family's harmony. (Not to mention we just moved, so all my tools are across town in my dad's basement. Anyhow.) The point is, that's the only car I have built right now and the time isn't there to start on a brand new build.

I pointed out that I didn't have a car up to modern league specs when the challenge was first thrown. I said I'd be glad to let you know when I was moving up to oil and non-stock parts. You seemed to be willing -- at first, at least -- to match my specs in order to let the race happen now. When I got a little more specific, you backed off.

Yep. You. Backed. Off.

So now you're the one complaining (whining?) about not being able to build a consistent car out of stock parts. Boohoo. I can't run without my trued wheels and speed axles.

Well, I guess we all have to know our limits. I will return to my offer to let you know when I'm building a car that uses oil, and speed axles and trued wheels.

For what it is worth, it seems like the idea of running a PINKS race with BSA kit parts came up in the past. As the record will show, you didn't seem to have a problem with it then. So why now?

Tell you what: Since you keep offering to pay for this and that, you can keep the 10 bucks you offered for my entry fee and buy yourself 5 tubes of wheels and axles to select from. And since you were going to waste that money on me anyhow, you don't come out behind, and the race gets to go forward. Oh! And bonus! You'll have a pile of BSA wheels to play with on your new lathe.

You don't wanna play, that's fine by me. But don't act like I'm the one unwilling to participate.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Vitamin K...

I'M YOUR HUCKLEBERRY!!

Please list your stipulations to the build. Now, since we know this is your only car, I would not want to take that away. I will race your a heads up gentlemen's race to your outlined details. Please post for me and all of us to see. I don't have an issue with stock parts. I enjoy building cars that can just perform better. So I drew the line in the sand, you have crossed it. Lets do this June 20, 2015. Please list what specifics necessary so as I am not called anything but a fair racer win or loose.

Chips

I don't mind losing the car if I lose the race. Your call on that.

How does this sound for rules:

- Cars will run in the BASX class.
- Only BSA-manufactured axles (No Revell, Max-V, DD4H replacements).
- Only BSA wheels that have not been professionally trued/improved. Any improvements that you can do on your own (e.g. outer step removal) are kosher, provided the wheels meet BASX specs.
- You may purchase as many tubes of BSA wheels/axles as you desire to select running parts.
- Only graphite (or graphite/moly) for lubricant, though you may use any axle treatment (Pledge, Jig, Sailkote) that you desire.
- You may use whatever bore wax/polish you desire.

Workable?

Note to self........

"BlewBYu, you are to lay all obligations aside on June 20, 2015. Must see Pinks race will be run. Make sure you have all "honey-dos" complete beforehand. "

"On a lesser note, might want to finish your own cars at some point in time!"

I love talking in the third person.

Isn't removing the step a "modification" I thought this was box stock vs. box stock. Polish axles and wheels. If your are altering the wheels from anything other than out of the box than why should I not do the same?

I'm confused - this is why I said BASX rules. Please clarify - I'm not trying to rehash all this but isn't this the exact point you were making and why we could not use "professional" wheels?

In my original phrasing I ruled out professional modifications. However, if it keeps things simpler, we can also rule out step removal, too. Stick to axle and bore polishing.

I think any self-improvements we can do on the axles should be valid too: Filing, polishing, head beveling, bend groove, k-house groove...whatever...so long as you're working with an actual BSA axle.

Objections?

Who do you propose to be live at this event to do the tech in for this race? It has to be your idea so I am not accused of tampering with the Judge / Judges. I vote no step removal if we are doing a stock race. Yes polish the axle / remove crimp, bend polish etc. Wheels NOTHING done. Box stock except polish bores.

I can't be live at any Utah races, I fear. I have faith in any NPWDRL officials that might be willing to oversee the race.
