Is this the same woman who was drawing circles around the track's feet with a Sharpie on your living room floor so she would know where to set the track up? I'm thinking you're safe.......

That was my wife, oh and she told me this morning to order an extra set of wheels too, dang I love this woman!

That's awesome Bulldog!

The only good thing I can see from all of this is that if there is really a limited amount of these pre 2009 wheels, everyone running them will have to switch back to the V4's at some point and the times will get a lot closer again.

I may need to get into the used up wheel refurb business....

I am also offering the Zeebzob cut for RAZR wheels!!!!

Glad my 4 year old wheels are finally getting some publicity. I finally kind of see what Glenn has always been talking about now /images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif

Didn't take long for John to jump all over that for a few bux....LOL

Wow a little bitter? If you would have cut them I'm sure John would have given you props. I thought it was pretty nice of John to give him credit. People have already been asking for them, why wouldn't he offer them to everyone? Maybe he should call them the team cut that only a few have access to, to try and keep all else behind.?

Serious dude? You are something else man.

Yep that's why he's not offering the wheel to you. It took me a while to find the small print in his post were it excluded you but I found it. For me I'm glad he's offering them for all I love a level playing field this is going to be a great upcoming series!

well basx wheels went from 16 to 25 to 65..i just bought 3 sets of 25.00 now waste of money if these new wheels are 005 faster...

The Predator 2.4 say in the description they are 7.5mm
hmmm
which could be a typo but if true would not meet the BASX 8mm width requirement.

My opinion though is the BASX low cost entry class should not use these if the intent is to have an entry level class with lower cost. Otherwise it is just
dollarsigns
dazed

But as said previously by others .005 will not help me enough to really matter at this point. So I will run what I got for now and save the money for later.

It could be like Nascar and some really nice sets of used wheels could get sold off at a cut rate price to some of the lower budget racers. So maybe it is not all bad...................

So is anybody going to sell some quality pre-owned wheels when they step up to the predators?

People have been running them since the 2.0gr. Wheel was the rule for SS, and 2.4 for the BASX. Nationals was the first time I ran them and yes they are faster. I didn't get them from John though I spent over $100 buying old kits and ended up with 8 good wheels, and that's just the raw wheel. I just think it's BS that some crap on this. Here he's trying to level the field for all and some try and some cry foul. If you don't like the price try and buy some kits and do it your self see how much one set cost you. You will see $65 is a bargain!

I'm in business for myself. I have developed a unique product that I have perfected the process with. This process took many years to master and now I offer it to other contractors as a business of their own. Before I introduced this to market I tested and tested and had some of my close friends and brother go through my training and see if it worked for him. I see this happen in almost all types of business, it not only helps to work the kinks out but it helps the end user not waste money on original prototypes that will become obsolete in a matter of weeks as the product improves. In all honesty I would have never thought of 10% of this stuff we learn and try if I was not standing on the shoulders of greatness. If you want to win come up with a speed tip that is not sold yet, bring it out at a race and win with it before others can copy you! This is free market racing baby and in the short time I've been racing I've seen so many new things, some have worked and some have not, but when they work the results are amazing and everyone quickly gets in line to copy. I would hate to see guys leave this sport, I hope they will just be the ones to get pissed enough to find the next big thing. You guys and your brains are amazing, and yes I placed an order today, hope it helps. Oh, that product i told you that I have been working on, www.stonecoatcountertops.com Plug! Stay positive guys, remember you love this thing called PWD.

Not to get into the middle of an argument where I don't belong, but I have to thank John for offering these. Personally I want to buy the exact stuff the pros use. I want it so my prep is all that separates me from being the fastest. It's not John's fault that they exist. Personally I wish they didn't exist, but if John didn't offer them the rest of us wouldn't stand a chance against the people with the resources to make them. At least in my mind John's mission is to offer the fastest products to everyone. He isn't hiding behind a rock keeping the secrets to himself. He's making them and putting them in our hands. I commend him on his pursuit to further the sport of PWD.

Now, before I order parts for the fire series, are they legal for BASX or not?

If you are buying the ones on Johns site for BASX class the 2.4 gram ones, they will be legal. Here they are http://www.shop.derbydad4hire.com/The-Predator-24-set-of-4-wheels-W-P24.htm

Sweet! Thanks!

Another question: I think I understand why the 2.0 and 2.4 are faster than their post-2009 counterparts, but I don't understand the 0.8's. In the search for making the lightest wheel possible you would have to remove much of the material around the hub. It appears to me that this excess material is exactly what gives the 2.0 and 2.4 an advantage. Is there something special about the pre-2009 wheels that allow them be lathed even lighter than post-2009 wheels?

Also, if anybody is getting rid of old wheels to run these, PM me. I'm planning on two cars for the fire series just because I have enough resources to put two together, but a discount on some parts might help me enter another one or two.

I knew I could get the DD4H puppet to chime in! /images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif This 1 was way too easy! Maybe i will try something a little more challenging next time.

Wow, this thread derailed fast. Guys it's just like wheel weights last year, every quickly jumped on that but remember it take quite a degree in talent to get them to work the best to achieve the best of them, but most people aren't running them still. Again with these wheels it take quite a bit of talent to get the full .005 out of them with perfect prep. Most of us won't get that full .005 out of them.
