New Items THE FASTEST WHEELS AVAILABLE!!!!!

Just kinda upset cuz i bought bunch of sets of basx and 2 gram wheels just month or so ago..now gota buy these new ones if i wanna compete..i aint the only one upset, but i guess thats the way it goes

Racing pre-2009 wheels isn’t new, just DD4H selling them is new. John is doing everybody a favor by offering them for sale and “levelling the playing field” like QT said… From what I have seen , since the great “oil secrets” controversy of 2010, DD4H has kept the playing field fairly level by offering the newest speed secrets and parts to everybody. These new speed secrets and parts come from the minds of great racers that just want everybody to race and kick ass… people like QT, Kinser, Goat Boy, D4D, DD4H, Now Zeeb!!!, White Mountain, etc.. etc.. etc… You see in the past everybody would keep this information to themselves (and to their buddies) and they would dominate, and everybody would be pissed. Now that information is let out and everybody is on the level…. Now the latest information and parts are out there, it is just who can do it better… and yes sometimes this comes at a cost$$...

BTW… The speed advantage of cutting these wheels has been posted on this site since November 2013. Anybody could have had an advantage over everybody else by having these wheels cut for them a year ago…

I've read that post more than once and acted upon it back then. Now to take advantage of the findings.

TRE I am not seeing you volunteer info to me on how you made massive speed gains. The ones that share with me, I share with them. It is that simple. The other thing is a little thing called friend/loyalty. I know Goatie will try and tell you it is a bad thing as we have witnessed on yet another episode of How The Goat Turns, but the ones I can trust will be the ones testing this stuff for me.

I have always found it intriguing when you massively speed people up and they complain about the last .002 they don't have. The wheels are in short supply and it takes a lot of time to machine them. Regardless of the wheel you still have to beat the top dogs.

5K this is exactly what it was like when I broke the oil. LOL

I've never raced with you guys, but I hope to soon. I guess I really shouldn't have a beef with the new wheels because I'm just getting started. But that's the thing, I'm just getting started, BASX seemed like a good class to start with, I have most everything I need, the rules seemed straight forward.

For me the wheel weights were the first monkey wrench in the works, but I can roll with that and my car should have that. Then these wheels came out.

On my first read I saw that these wheels give a .05 advantage, and that seemed huge!

Now I'm reading .005, and I'm much less concerned about it.

The rules have been around for a while now, and if guys have already been using these wheels then it's great that more racers get access to them. That's a really cool thing. Everyone has access to them now. I'm not prepared to buy a set, but if others do, go for it!

I'm probably rambling, what I really need to do is stop worrying about what the Johnson's have and get some oil and get racing, my two sons need cars designed and built for the next scouting year, and I need practice!

Gonna need a bigger shelf for trophies!

This was not a Beta test, it's been on this board for 2 years, John is just now getting a small supply and letting everyone enjoy these wheels. Seriously if I had them on my car at Nationals, I still would not have made the finals. That tells me what I already know. I need to get better myself.

I'm in the same boat my friend

I guess this is a good way to deplete the market of existing pre-2009 wheels. They will only have so many races before the .005 advantage is gone. At first I was kind of annoyed that they are being made for BASX but after thinking about it more I agree it is a good thing to have access to them if someone wanted. I know I am not going to be out hunting for old wheels. I actually do have a set of raw unused ones but it is unlikely that even if I had a pro turn them they would all come out right.

Personally I think I would rather see the BASX add the rule that only post-2009 wheels can be used. Simply to keep it an entry level division with minimally modified wheels. Seems the boat has already sailed on that but like what has already been said, this is a limited time thing plus I have a lot of work to do to get within .005 seconds.

The funny thing is, is from your post you sound like you are entitled to all the info and testing out there. Good luck with that. Because of the differences in peoples prep and set up you could never come to a clear decision on what is good or bad. If people call John or any one else to have him make a change to the way they normally turn a wheel, should you get that info?
I don't know if you missed the first post in this section by GB. That is where the busting came from.
PLEASE don't feed the trolls!! Post will be deleted on both sides. THX!!

Why is everyone busting on Goat Boy? He makes the best damn tools out there, hands down. Everyone has his or her thing. DD4H is marketing/machining and txchemist is science/analysis. I know I'm just a beginner here, but does putting the wheels in a major event count as testing? No, I don’t think so. There is testing and beta testing. You sir have beta tested without giving out the knowledge of doing so. Yes, you are to choose a few to do the beta, but you are also liable to let everyone know that the beta is going on. Beta testers are chosen based on the wide market of people, not a select few. I hope I don’t get crapped on once again on this site, but I'm sticking up for the ones just starting out like myself. I bought all the products to make a BASX. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money for my first race. Now it seems I have to. I know you know how to run a business. I know how to beta test and this is not how.

Everyone has had the same rules and 5 kids posted about these wheels over a year and a half ago. Here's the deal, stop expecting everyone to tell you what when and how to do it. You all have been given your own mind. Use it!

For what it's worth. Here's some feedback from an outsider. I hope this comes over as constructive not critical, since that is how I've intended it.

The original announcement kind of accidentally sounded like, "hey, I've got these secret wheels that are my own cut and I've only shared them with some select few who can comment on them." Sort of like John's been choosing who can win. In any kind of racing, even a hint that someone might be choosing the winners, is a big problem--especially if that person is the person running the league. Through all the posts in this thread, it's obvious that actually people have been doing this for some time and John is simply making them available for the masses. Some message more like "now everyone can do what the top racers have been doing..." might have been a good way to approach this and might have been understood better for the good benefit it really is.

This is a really difficult and fine line for John to walk because he's at the middle of it all and both a supplier and the "official" so he should be given the benefit of the doubt when it can be. Not easy to be in his shoes on this.

On another note, if BASX is meant to be a lower cost division, then maybe outlawing pre-2009 wheels is something that should be at least considered. Everyone knows there is plenty of room in prep technique and other "secrets" for the top racers to still squash anyone else, so it's not like it will magically make everyone faster, but it might keep it lower cost and more of an "entry drug" for newbies before they become hard core addicts./images/boards/smilies/biggrin.gif If the thought is that this is not a low-cost, but just a different, more minimalist division, then ruling out the wheels doesn't matter then.

Obviously, I haven't raced yet, so please take this just as another viewpoint, not me trying to say I know better than all of you who are already racing and involved.
